Ok, dumb one here, reassembling my crd after a broken glow plug caused a swallowed valve, it's been apart for a year and I can't seem to figure out where one of the turbo heat shields go. Its one of the rough textured ones that has 2specifically bolt holes, an access hole about 1the inch in dia. And a wide slot that slips over something. I think it goes down by the crank position sensor / bellhousing area but I don't know how or where. Please help, maybe a picture of yours? Thanks, Tigafila

Try the pictures (thanks to camelback1998) of the CRD engine out of the vehicle at http://www.flickr.com/photos/68442076@N ... hotostream That link should take you to a picture of a plug in the oil gallery near the turbo but if you click on the "older" tab you can see a couple of pictures of the passenger side of the engine. From your description the heat shield you mention is on the left about 1/2 way down the block.

PLEASE send me a picture of the area behind that heat shield showing the oil plug behind the heat shield and if you can some idea of the amount of clearance available. geordi and I are exploring the idea of putting an oil pressure sending unit in one of those plugs instead of the OEM location which only looses pressure after it's too late for your engine/tranny. If you are like me an don't know how to attach a picture to a forum email either post it on this chat, if you can, or email me via the forum and I'll send you my direct email for a copy.

Papadingo, that's exactly what I needed, thanks so much. I took a bunch of pics and will post them when I get her running. One more question if someone can help, on the passenger side, there is a ground wire coming out of the main wiring harness right by the 5 or 6 big plugs near the firewall and I can't remember where that ground bolts to. Any help is greatly appreciated. Tigafila

Can you post a picture of the wiring and the area in question. I looked but don't see anything.
