Hey, wanted to let you know there is a much cheaper alternative for the serpent belt idler and tensioner pulleys, Napa #36101 perfect fit, just lose the big washer. $15 apiece!!!!! |

Good find. Someone else posted here that 36141 was a match, but said they were $30. |

Both those prices are about $3 below the online price but probably in line with an in store mechanic discount price. Visually the 36141 looks like a better equivalent mainly because it has a groove around the middle that at least looks like that on my OEM pulleys. But as nearly as I can tell, without taking stuff off my vehicle, the width of a Gates serp belt is 20.5 mm and the pulley diameter is 69.85mm so the 36141 probably wouldn't work as it's a shade too narrow (on the OEM pulley there is about 1.5mm on both sides of the belt on the bearing surface) and definitely too big a diameter. Other than the groove, probably meaningless, the 36101 looks just right. Nice find. Makes me wonder about NAPA timing belt idler pulley options. Anyone got the dimensions? |

I did this last night and just wanted to confirm that the Tensioner pulley unbolts and the Napa pulley 36101 bolts right up. Squeaky bearing is now fixed! $23.00 in stock at Napa. I was able to change it without removing the fan, but It would probably have been easier to remove the fan. Jason |

Just an FYI to anyone replacing just the pulley on the tensioner, Make sure you inspect the tensioner very closely to make sure it is still good. One month after being excited about the inexpensive fix, My tensioner gave up totally, causing the belt to shred and left my wife stranded. Upon inspection, I could see where the belt had been running on the tensioner unevenly, and the tensioner had lots of play and hadobviously failed. Don't know if it was like this when I changed the pulley, but I know I didn't inspect it. With the belt off it rests against the Power Steering pulley and makes it seem there is no play. I had to work the tensioner back and forth while bolted to the block to notice the play. Jason |

FYI those NAPA pulleys have Chinese bearings which may or may not be an issue. More to the point the pulleys are steel and the bearing is a press fit which makes me wonder, I've not changed my serp belt so I don't know, if the OEM pulleys are the same in which case the bearing should be replacable with access to a bearing press. |
