Post subject:  Replace Serpentine Belt with Alternator Decoupler?

Jeep is going to dealer Wednesday for warranty repair of alternator decoupler. (Telltale red dust is present along with rattle at idle.) Do you suggest serpentine belt and any pulleys or tensioner that should be replaced at the same time?

Thanks as always,

I changed my first belt at 25k. I've now taken that belt to 105k - Not that I really meant to leave it on so long. Where does the time go?
They seem to hold up. I will have mine replaced next month with the timing belt though.

How many miles on your belt?

Also, wasn't there something about hand turning the pulleys to see if they were messed up? I'm thinking of the viscous heater pulley. I think I read a thread about them not disengaging and taking down fuel economy in the summer months. I would look into that.

At least one member had the viscous heater clutch fail likely due to not disengaging see viewtopic.php?f=5&t=60567 . I've not looked at the post recently but last I recall he found a replacement bearing for like $5 + shipping but no clutch "guts" so he was just running with the viscous heater effectively disengaged. Not a big deal, my viscous heater is disengaged by pulling its relat. Viscous heater makes a bit of difference in speed of cabin heat in really cold weather but IMHO not that much and certainly not as much as the block heater.

No particular need to routinely replace the other pulleys although they should be carefully inspected for leaking grease or any excessive bearing slop. FYI tigafila just posted a lower cost alternative for the serp belt idler pulleys at viewtopic.php?f=5&t=64200&p=708688&hilit=bearing#p708688
