I was crawling underneath the jeep the other day...after noticing two drips of oil underneath the engine area..and I noticed that the oil return line from the turbo to the block seems to be leaking. does anyone have any knowledge in this area? I would like to replace the parts necessary. so I am looking for part numbers and or a how to write up. I looked through the search engine, found a couple of things but i am looking for a little more insight..

I notice that the truck when I accelerate very hard blows a greyish smoke. after two or three of these starts it gets less and less. I have cleaned the MAP numerous times (although it never really gets that dirty) and the I have pulled the hoses and they are relatively clean too??any ideas

The smoke you describe is called an "Italian Tune-Up" and is completely normal. You are blowing off the crud that collects on the turbo vanes, helping improve the operation. Enjoy the acceleration. Flogging these little ponies every once in a while keeps them in good form.

The return line... Is another crappy design choice. The line bolts into place with TWO hard-to-access bolts under the turbo, and just shoves into the side of the block into a rubber grommet... That seems like it wants to dissolve just like the natural rubber intake hose from the air box. Isn't that a great design?

In short, I wouldn't mess with that, it won't really solve anything, and quite possibly is a lot more trouble than it is worth. Wipe it off with a rag and move on.

Make sure that the oil isn't actually coming from the turbo air inlet hose. The ccv fumes dump out right there and condense. Over time it eats through the rubber and drips. I assume you mean you checked the intercooler hoses, but remove the one that goes from the air filter box to the turbo.

Good point! The stock airbox hose only lasts about 40k miles if the CCV system is hooked up (as in stock, not EHM) b/c the hose is natural rubber and the oil contamination just dissolves the rubber into a gooey mess. Yuck. You don't want that mess right in the entrance of your turbo, but the oil leak would wrap around the cold side of the turbo and could EASILY follow the return line down to where you wiped it off.

Thinking about it... That seems like a much more likely source for the oil you found. That hose is a dealer-only part, but it is only like $55.
