Hey, I'm feeling a little LOST...

About 2 months ago, I took my Jeep into the Dealership for a timing belt, glow plug, and waterpump replacements (got them all done at the same time since they it open) - paid my ~$1400, and now the Jeep is not running like it used to. It uses oil at about quart 500 miles, but there is no dripping anywhere on the floor. Additionally, it sounds rougher - the MPG is down about 2.5 (even after the winter diesel drop is taken into account). I'm not sure what could cause this abrupt change and can only coincide it with the service. :?

I have mentioned it to the dealer and he has said bring it in when I am in town. Before I do, I thought that I would seek the advice of the LOST group. What do you think might be causing the change in performance and the oil usage?

Thanks for any help you might offer. 8)

No sign of oil when I checked after the work was done - I suppose I should check again - Thanks!

Timing could be off by 1 tooth; not too difficult to check see Sir Sam's post at the beginning of page to at viewtopic.php?f=5&t=63938&p=706602&hilit=timing#p706602 Keep in mind this is based on starting from scratch to time the engine. I suspect, subject to Sir Sam's comment, that you could find TDC with just #1 injector pulled and long probe if you turned the engine over using the wrench and socket method.

Why the service you mention would result in that abnormally high oil consumption I don't know. UV dye in the oil might help on the hunt.
