Hey all, First I want to thank you guys for this awesome forum and all the noob info. I bought an 05 limited with 87k. The good: I love it. Lol It's got the new style fuel head. I just did the ehm and cleaned the map. Funny story, thanks to this site, I pulled the map out right in front of salesman and went on about how the caked on junk, blah blah, etc. well I ended up getting 1k not off the price. The bad: Needs a new thermostat(ordered) I'm not sure so if someone can explain it better, I might have slight tc shudder. All in all I always thought these things were awesome little things and this one is proving that so far. I already noticed a huge difference with turbo lag and acceleration with cleaning the map. I plan on getting the euro tc with the GDe hot tune and tcm tune. Thanks lost for all this info. I feel like I'm part of an elite community now |

Lol I ordered the stant from Rock auto. I studied this forum honestly for 2 months before I finally pulled the trigger. But thank you for the link. If it wasn't for guys like you, I would of never considered a crd. |

Bringing her home I got 22.3mpg going 80mph. Today after a 80 mile round trip and the map cleaning I got 26.2mpg. I hope the thermostat makes up 3 to 4 and I will then be in love |

Stock mpg runs like 19 in town for shortish commutes and 28 hwy at 1800rpm. GDE EcoTune will boost both about 20% along with other good things. Slightly bad tstat (reading ca. 3/8ths in winter) costs like 1.5mpg based on my experience. |

very nice man I like the silver. almost got a silver one but it was going to cost me more to buy that 05 and add all the things i wanted than buy the loaded 06 green machine that I bought. I did love the green and always wanted a green car but have to agree silver would have hid so much more dirt and looked clean way longer. Like you I was here before the purchase and with out LOST would have been lost. enjoy the jeep

Thanks. Got the thermostat in last night. When I opened the box up it had a different part # on the actual thermostat. I called rock auto and the part they said it is an identical tstat, it's just made by gates instead of stant. It already had a hole drilled in it. So I just put it in(5 minutes). No temp spikes I will report back on my mileage |

26 mpg on the highway in a stock CRD is about as good as you'll get on winter diesel in Chicago/Michigan area. Winter diesel will take 10% right out off the top, but it does beat the heck out of having your fuel gel on you. Welcome to the club, guy, you are going to love this little tractor. I note you are at 87 k miles. Do remember that the timing belt is due at 100 k, and it is NOT optional. These are interference engines, and really bad things happen if the timing belt snaps on you. Lot of folks whine about the cost of the thermostat. But it is a two stage job that regulates engine coolant INTAKE temperature, rather than outlet temperature, a better design IMHO. And I agree about the replacement of the stock fan clutch. My stock one proved useless before 80,000 miles, and was replaced with a stock clutch that seems to have gone south on me in only another 60,000 miles. I'll be replacing it before towing season starts with a Hayden that kicks in at 170˚ instead of the stock 190˚. |
