Ok this is an idea borrowed from Mercedes. Mercedes has these mileage clubs, when you hit the mileage you get an emblem to attach to your grill.

At 300,000 kilometers(180k mi) you get a badge, and then at regular increments you get another to add.(or something like that, I sold my mercedes and never went to the trouble to get the badges before I did)

Now I don't think Jeep will do this for us, nor do I think we will get some good badges made up, but we could get some vinyl stickers made, and we could set mileage goals at 100K increments.

So 100k miles, 200k, then maybe 250, 300, 350 etc.

Anyone else interested? Shall we draft some designs for the sticker?

This is one of Mercedes:

It would be cool if we could get badges made, but lets face it, Jeep ain't gonna do that for us. Plus, we don't need no stinkin badges.

Sounds cool. I don't know if I'd get more than the first one, because I just don't drive much. I live in the sticks and just drive into a town every 2 weeks for supplies, about a 150 mi. round trip usually. I have an electric car I use for short trips, so not a lot of use in between. It would take about 5 years to get to 100K.

Count me in Sam.

I bet VM Motori would be interested in the badges.

It's good P.R. for their engines and also for a not so well known diesel engine company.

Furthermore, VM Motori should be aware of the fans they have on this microcosm of a forum.

I'm in too. If the increments are only 50k apart, you would be sending me a new one every 18 months or so!

I'm already at 100k miles just about, I expect to hit that before New Years.

I would be in, except I would opt for the nicer 'emblem' idea. A cheap vinyl sticker doesn't do it for me, and I bet it wouldn't cost that much more to do an emblem.

I would start at 100k and then every 50k after.

Vinyl sticker = $0.50

Emblem = design, prototyping, machining/print/hand carving a master. Then making an injection mold, then having a run made. And thats only for one badge = $$$$

Unless Jeep or VM wants to step up and pay for a bunch of these to be produced then we gotta settle for a sticker.

Closest we might come is to get a plate water-jetted out that says "100k" on it. Then paint it and throw it up on the grill.

Maybe something like a "Jeep+VM" then followed by the miles:
Jeep+VM
100,000mi
200,000mi
250,000mi
etc

Uh, can we keep this on topic?

How about a reflective sticker that gets overlaid onto a water jet piece of plate. Paint and mount the plate, throw the sticker on.

Other thoughts?

Well if you looking for something a little nicer than a sticker, http://www.billetbadges.com can make something for around $40 a pop. These are the people that made the LOST badges as well as my Turbo Diesel badge.

$40 is for the 6" by 1.5" domed badge. They also have circular and oval badges that are closer to the Benz badge.

I'm at 97000 miles. I'd be interested in this project

Now we are talking, time to break out the ProE.........

Ok, so if we can have them make something for abnout $40 a pop thats not bad.

Lets say that's going to work out, what kind of badge should we get? round like the benz and VW, or maybe something in the outline of the Jeep lettering? or maybe something in the outline of the KJ?

A triumph crown/circle around a shield.

Miles reached written in the shield, theme written in the circumference of the circle.

Gold color circle, green grass colored shield and white color lettering.

Let's create a new one and not copy what's out there.

The more detail and the more the paint I would bet would drive up the price real quick.

We need to keep this simple to keep the price down or no one is going to do it. Who really wants to pay $100 for a badge to show off mileage? Many fewer people than want to pay $40. And nearly none compared to how many would pay $10 for a badge.

I'd be in for this, though I'm about 63k miles away from the entry level membership...

Could just do the Jeep logo over a XXX,000 miles tag.
Or JeepCRD, KJCRD, CRD... up to y'all.

To be honest it would make more sense to make this something thats applicable to every Jeep, not just CRD's. The more people we have interested, the better a product we can get made, and the more exposure it has.

Just think, we could have people throwing these on XJ's TJ's, WJ's KK's etc.

I think something generic like a Jeep plus the miles would be best. I would love to through in something VM related but I don't want to exclude the 3.7 guys.

Something else to consider, do we want this like a grill badge like mercedes does, or would be rather have something like an emblem or badge, maybe stack them below the "trail rated" etc.

Also if we are going to try and come up with something collectively we might just need to decide on some guide lines, then open it up to a user submitted contest, and vote on it.

Hopefully more guys will chime in on monday when they are goofing off from work, the site is always slow on the weekend.

I'm in too...this sounds good.

Just thinking the 200,000 mi. badge needs to have a gold finish...after all, it'll probably take a pot of gold to keep her running that long. :ROTFL: :ROTFL:

I'm at 83K now...this next year I should qualify for badge #1.

Sounds good to me. The grill badge or a badge for the tailgate, either one is fine. I like the idea of having some mock-designs for folks to vote on.
