Post subject:  ABS and E Brake Light are on.

Morning Everyone,

I picked up 05 CRD about a month ago, I have enjoyed this vehicle since I have bought it.
On a drive home from work the abs light and e brake light came on, after lurking the forums here for a bit i found that it could be corroded wires are the culprit. I crawled under there this morning to check the top of the differential, and sure enough, one of the wires is toast.
Since I know that this is what is wrong, what is the best way to fix?

Thank You and Happy New Year to everyone.

I removed the connector by cutting the wires. Took the connector apart for cleaning and rewired it with a pigtail. Temporarily re-wire the connector it back on the jeep with wire nuts and drive it for a while to see if the problem is solved. If so, replace the wire nuts with a soldered joint covered by heat shrink.

I would like to thank irunmiles, what he told me to do worked wonderfully until it happened again..

I have tried several things to try to diagnose what the problem is.
I measured the voltage of the connector at the vehicle end. I got about 11.5 Volts. (I don't think that I am having the same issue that I was having before.)
I measured the resistance across the sensor and got a open circuit. Is this correct?

Tomorrow I will be taking the cover off and taking a poke around in there, it is due for a change.

Anyone else have any other things I should test or look at?

Thanks,
Phil

A bit of a update.
I changed the connector on my harness and the sensor in the diff.
This did not fix the issue though.
I used this connector. http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/fuel-injector-connector-bosch-ev6-p-132.html It is a good quality sealed connector and fits great.
However I measured the voltage coming off the harness and this time I read 5.5 volts instead of 11.5 volts I got last time.
I will take it somewhere soon to the abs codes read, and I will report back the results.

I had the same thing which tended to be worse in cold and tended to go away as the day warmed up and after a restart. Also, noticed that when the lights were on, the odometer ceased working. The dealer diagnosed and repaired a speed sensor on the rear axle. Also, said the wiring harness was frayed and replaced but it sounded as though it was the sensor that was bad because I was given the option to replace the wiring.

It's not necessarily the rear sensor/wires. I had same problem and changed the sensor and the pigtail. But it didn't solve the problem. It was the right front sensor wire. It had been rubbing and had worn thru. If you hit a bump, everything was fine. Hit another bump and the wire shorted out.
check the front wheel harnesses, too. If they have rubbed through, you will get this problem.

Ok, I will check the fronts. But that still does not explain my issue with the parking/Ebrake light being on...
Getting the codes read today. I will report back later.

Thanks for the help guys.
