Soon enough, we'll be relegated to cult enthusiast/collector status.........much in the same way as the Delorian, or any other number of old obscure cars throughout history where nearly all current owners wind up in the same club.

well jrsobx - my comments to folks looking at CRD's is that the biggest issue from day one has been lack of trained Technicians to work on them.

If you're will to turn some wrenches and spend a little time reading - they're great.

If you want someone else to work on them - they're really expensive and frustrating.

well if you are looking to sell it, add a price, I know plenty of people that want one, and plenty more that have had equally frustrating time with gassers n the shop for that long. Get rid of it and away goes 4 to 500 miles on a tank of fuel, to half that with a gas lib.

Well I certainly apologize. I didn't realize that the only posts I was allowed to make were supposed to be useful to you. It's nice to meet the forum jerk right off the bat.

Don't be so harsh. The op is just trying to tell us:

- Jeep dealerships don't know how to maintain our CRD. Already knew that.
- If you're persistent and witch enough at Chrysler someone will eventually listen. I didn't know this as I always found my complaints fell on deaf ears.
- If you're persistent and witch enough at Chrysler they will eventually get your Jeep fixed. I didn't know this, I thought we'd been abandoned but he omitted to mention how far they made him travel to get to the dealer that did the work.
- If you're persistent and witch enough at Chrysler they'll compensate you with a discount on a new vehicle. I don't really care since I would never buy another Chrysler vehicle again unless it was discounted to a point that I could resell/trade it immediately and make a profit.

Mine was simply in response to radiotracer's comment above...........should have quoted him I suppose. And to your original thread post? I and many others here are just real skeptical when someone's first post on the forum is simply to bash the very vehicle we are trying to learn about. Internet lore regards these people as trolls. If you took offense to my reply, that's fine.........add to you calling me a jerk, well,I chalk that up to you being new and not knowing me at all.

Hello everybody. I was referred here from another forum after I posted about my difficulty in getting my CRD fixed.

The condensed story is that the dealership couldn't find parts...then they couldn't find tools...then they couldn't figure out how to fix it. I firmly believe that the squeaky wheel gets the grease, so I squeaked so loud that I received a call from one of the members of the board of directors of Chrysler Group. He actually called me from Italy. Maybe it helps that I used to own a Fiat.

It broke on Thanksgiving and was fixed on January 13. From what I understand, that is a pretty quick fix in CRD land!

Now that I have it back, it runs great...apparently the motor wasn't supposed to sound like that all along!

But now it has a new timing belt, new water pump and a few new internal bearing/pulley/timing belt mechanism, etc. I'm sure this thing will run for another 100,000 miles, but I don't think I'll stick around to find out. It's my girlfriends car. She owns a florist and just can't go a couple months without her car. She really didn't enjoy delivering flowers in my diesel F-250. (I know-talking about a Ford on a Jeep forum, but I need the tow capacity). The CRD has to go. She is thinking about a Patriot but has seen a couple of nice used non-CRD liberty's. Jeep Corporate said they will give me a discount code if I want a new Jeep. The discount gives me the car at 5% below invoice, which is something to think about.

As far as the "I will never buy Chrysler again", I have this to say, all automotive manufactures have the same motto, 'We don't sell new ones, if the old ones don't wear out". I worked as a Certified Master Technician for Chrysler/Jeep Dealerships, for over 25 years and have seen the good with the bad in all brands. One brand being better then another is all subjective.

That being said, tell your better half to enjoy her CRD's new lease on life, the 30MPG average should go a long way in the flower delivery business.
