Hey guys , I have a problem with this Flow Control Valve also known FCV. Again. And I need help because I am out of patience. I unpluged the MAF, EGR valve and FCV, please tell me why I am getting out of the blue this stupid lightning bolt warning light ( the one related to FCV malfunction), that flashes and puts the jeep in some kind of limp mode for few seconds, if driving.
What's really getting to me, is that it happends so randomly, and sometimes it puts the jeep in limp mode and sometimes does not ,warning light just start flushing out of the blue. I read every thread on FCV/EGR, but seems that I miss something. I do not have any wires chaffing, I check them all. Also new battery. I am so angry at my jeep now, I worked for about 20 years on diesels industrial in Canada, and I thought that I know it all, But CHRYSLER proved me wrong.

Beside that, when that warning light does not put me in limp mode, the Jeep runs great, I have a great fuel mileage.

Here are my thoughts.. without re-reading a lot of posts:

I don't recall a recommendation to unplug the EGR/FCV - since the ECM looks for a reasonable load to verify their correct operation. Failure to present that reasonable load is likely to result in a code and limp-mode due to the nature of the fault - fairly critical components whose failure allows no reasonable default for normal operation.

I do recall the unplugged MAF as a means to cause the ECM to default to less aggressive use of the EGR/FCV, effectively disabling them; the only downside is a CEL but no limp mode.

Alternatively, installation of the SEGR or a GDE Tune allows for EGR-free operation with all the benefits and no CEL.

The Jeeps are great, the EGR/FCV was a poorly implemented solution from Chrysler/Jeep.

Thanks Mark, I did ... more reading on this great site, and what buggs me is a lot of guys disconected their EGR and also the FCV ,and it apears that they only get the "check engine" light, without the FCV blinking warning light. I just want to know why I am getting it and if anything that I can do to stop it to go in the limp mode.
Check engine light does not bother me at all, got used to ! LOL

Running long term with the vehicle warning system disabled is just asking for trouble. SEGR or a GDE tune are the only sensible ways to go. Then carry an Innova 3030 (cheap/works) with you at all times along with a printout of the trouble code list from this site. Then if a problem develops, you have a good chance of making a good decision as to what to do.

Those two code are MAF and EGR circuit malfunction - what you'd expect if they're disconnected (I believe).
