So how big of a pain is it to replace all of the glow plugs? I got the P1263 code, which seems to be the P0672: #2 glow plug, which with the reversed harness on my 05, makes it the difficult #3 glow plug.

I am thinking about just replacing all of them at the same time, since the #3 is so difficult, might as well do the rest.

How difficult is this task? Looks like it is fairly difficult access.

I have replaced the motor mounts and the thermostat, and those weren't difficult at all.

What do you guys think? Replace only one of the ceramics or make the jump to the new 5 volts and be done with it?

Cost difference seems to be 50 for the single ceramic and about 200 when all is done for the metalics (including getting the GDE tune updated).

Well since finding a ceramic is going to be intresting i would say make the swap. That way there are no more worries and have you downloaded the manual in the noob quide? It tells you how to do just about everything on the KJ and ussually has photos and tools needed listed. But from what i have heard the ceramics aren't that hard to acttually get to and change but really hard to keep together while getting them out.

Service manual says you (only ! ; ' ) ) need to remove the alternator and intake manifold intake tube (where it bolts to the engine cover / intake.

Probably awkward reaching the bolts, but could be worse.

See viewtopic.php?f=5&t=56696&p=630729&hilit=glow+removal#p630729 Don't forget if you go with the 5v OEM replacements that you need an ECU flash for ca. $100 at the dealer or an update to your GDE flash to handle the lower voltage glow plugs.
