My latest Acquisition from North Carolina, an 05 Liberty CRD Sport with 91k.
I need Daytime Running Lights for Canadian registration RIV, a Federal Inspection.
I bought the Canadian relay module that plugs into the LH side dash fuse box. I unplugged the US relay module (which plugs to the left of the Cdn relay module)
Took it to Dodge City service departement and they told me they don't like the CRD...
hmmm
...and it shows.
It was a half hour after dropping off the keys that the Service Dept announces they can't get into the computer to activate the DRL. They can't install an update either. US dealer in Wisconsin had the same story but did not leave the Air Bag light on.The Canadian Dealer somehow triggered the Air Bag light ON. It is still on. I tried pulling the relays and swapping them back. Before that, I disconnected the battery in the home to reset. That didn't work. This is my 9th CRD Liberty and getting this done in the past was easy...UNTIL NOW
What do I do now?

If it's throwing a code, sometimes you can just reset it (like most any OBD2 code).

If they've nicked a wire or connector, it won't reset. They are generally 'sticky' once tripped, however - hence the reset with a scanner.

I dont see why the ECU needs to be reprogrammed for the DRL to work...it gets activated by the BCM.
My old 2002 circuit diagram suggests that you may need to check that fuses 26 and 27 are in place.

You need to get a circuit diagram for your model here at Sams Noob Guide to diagnose this problem and maybe your airbag light problem as well. :?

I was referring to the SRS light that came on (as needing to be reset) - sorry, I didn't make that clearer.

...I'll do a google on Sams Noob but...why is the dealers BCM activator not able to enter and set the DRL? The dealer feels that it should all be replaced with a $2,000+ pricetag. I don't see why, because there is nothing wrong with this CRD. Do you think that the tech could have exposed a wire while digging around and that is causing the AIR BAG light to glow?

So, the dealer is recommending you replace the BCM, and it has a $2k price tag? It (05142220AC for my 2005 libby) is about $315 shipped from factorychryslerparts.com.

Looking at the service manual, it *looks* like it should be as simple as pulling the high-beam relay (smaller of the two) and inserting the DRL relay?

So, what is happening that shouldn't be... and/or what is not happening that should be.. when you have the DRL relay installed?

As for the $2k - are they wanting to charge you for the SRS repair now? The module for that gem is under the center console I believe. I'm thinking that if they broke it...

Are you able to trace the wiring with a voltmeter to see what's happening at the DRL / wiring harness for the lights?

My understanding is they should just have to change a setting with a DRBIII and you may have to insert the DRL relay as stated above.

The pressure switch under the front passenger seat on an 05 Liberty CRD is triggered by air pressure that gets activated by a bubble pack inside the seat foam. There is a pressure sensor that sends atmospheric pressure down a 1/4 inch hose. The hose is attached to an electric trigger. There are 3 wires connected to the trigger.
1. green
2. green and orange
3. green and purple

How do you test this?
Air Bag light is always on. It goes out after turning on ignition then goes back on and stays on.
The Passenger air bag light is on.
The AB light on passenger side fluctuated after the visit at the dealer. It was working fine before the visit.
