Last night my wife and I and two of our friends drive about 60 miles West of here for dinner... yes we're in the middle of nowhere. On the way home, being dark at that point, I had the headlights on and noticed twice during the trip that the instrument lights (gauge illumination, shifter illumination, heater illumination, etc.) would "flash" as in get brighter, for a split second. I thought it was my eyes, and might be. My friend said "I think I might have saw that." Real helpful. My wife said she thinks she noticed it in the past. If it is a problem, I want to take care of it before it leaves her stranded at night... anyone have any ideas? |

Have you ever replaced your battery and if so what with. This is one sign of low voltage. The original Optima batteries are way past their prime ![]() I and others have had very good results with a Sears P1 battery. Yes they are expensive but so is an inferior new Optima Redtop ![]() |

This has been reported as a failure in the multi-function stalk on the steering column which controls the dash illumination. Some people have replaced it with success. |

I have the engine oil light slightly bright. I am sure it is actually lights from the back panel that is bleeding in the oil signal. I guess each signal and its bulb is supposed to be isolated, if the things move a bit back there, then all the signals start to glow a bit. Does it sound possible?... |

The flashing is common. Mine's done it a couple of times a month since new. Of course, the dealers always said "can't reproduce" so it's just another issue I have to live with. |

Mine does the same, and I have traced it back to the dimmer switch. When I drive I set the dimmer 1 down from the brightest setting, and when I hit a bump it will flash brighter. I can also tap the stem, or slightly wiggle the dimmer switch but without changing the position, and it will cause the dash to get brighter. |

I have seen this instrument lighting "flash" on my '06, perhaps half a dozen times in over five years. There were never any electrical problems with the vehicle. It seems to be a commonly reported occurrence. |

I (my son) have had a problem with the interior lights flashing randomly during driving. I narrowed it down to the Multifunction control switch. I was able to stop the flashing by adjusting the brightness control to. I am currently in decision of what to do with my Liberty as it needs repairs and I waiting for warmer days. |
