Hi. I suspect of my TC bolts to be loose. I went and look under the libby but found no access to the TC bolts. Does any one knows how to access them? I would like to make sure they are snug.
Thanks

Above the starter there is a rubber plug about 2"x3". Remove that and you can get to the bolts by rotating the engine. May need to remove starter too.

FSM says torque converter-to-driveplate bolts tighten to 31 N·m (270 in.lbs.). That said why to you suspect they are loose? If they have not been touched since assembled at the factory they shouldn't be although checking won't hurt. If they have been touched since then (due to tranny work or install of a new torque convertor) it's possible one or more are loose. The consensus is on reinstall one should use Loctite but there seems to be disagreement over red vs. blue. IMHO if the above torque value is correct and given that removal of bolts set with red loctite often requires application of a torch I see no reason to use anything but blue loctite.

The FSM (GDE also mentions this at http://www.greendieselengineering.com/f ... st/37.page) speaks to removal of those bolts, one at a time, during removal of the transmission and reinstalling them one at a time during a tranny reinstall but with a warning not to torque them all the way down until the are all threaded in place. From that I would conclude that if they are all in place that they can be removed one at a time and replaced/retorqued/with blue loctite one at a time.

Thanks. I just want to check those bolts as I am having a marble sound like when decelerating on the freeway. An example would be if I am cruising at 70 and I let go the pedal I would hear that loose marbles sound from under the car by where the tranny is, and if I press the pedal a tiny bit the sound would actually becomes louder. However, such sound disappears when the throttle is apply a bit more, and it only can be hear under those circumstances.
I already replaced the Ujoints, checked the tranny mount, replaced both motor mounts (which were bad), check turbo propeller (no play at all), all fluids are on level, and motor/transmission perform solid otherwise.
any other suggestion, other than checking the TC bolts would be much appreciated.

Chrysler goes with Blue Loctite, Suncoast and some other Aftermarket Torque Converters with Red Loctite.
The Suncoast converter is stronger than what the CRD engine capable of putting out with any tune available. When someone can find a way to get more than 400HP out of a CRD 2.8L engine :ROTFL: :ROTFL:, Suncoast may have to come up with a new converter.
