2005 crd 105,000 miles has a p0299 code for low boost. First step ordered gde hot tune to turn off egr. Still have code found vacuum line to turbo actuator broken replaced that. Checked the intercooler boots no cracks and yes did remove them from vehicle to check. Code came right back. Put a vacuum gun on that line and actuator and line hold vacuum also there is vacuum coming out of the box the line plugs into. While applying vacuum the arm on the actuator moves aprox. 1/4-1/2 inch eyeballed. How much should it move what's my next step? Jeep runs pretty good a little Kathy on bottom and does haze a bit at full throttle not sure if that's normal. Code has been on for a couple months so I am wondering if the vacuum leak stopped the vanes from moving causing them to seize? Any other ideas thanks for the help

Sounds like all it needs is to have the crap blown out of the cat and off of the turbo vanes ....try giving the little diesel the old italian tune up trick. You need to perform this trick a few times until the code doesn't return.

And that trick is? Running it hard? I took a screw driver and tried to pry up on the actuator rod to see if I could get more movement and didn't get any how much should the actuator move? I think I might have to pull it apart and clean the vanes like my wonderful 6.0 powerjoke :banghead:

Yes, drive it hard.

Find a steep hill and from a dead stop with a warm engine, floor it up the hill.

The engine light will turn on.... turn it off with your code reader and repeat the trick again and again untill the light remains off. Continue to drive it hard on the open highway every chance you get for a week or more.

The light will remain off and the actuator movement will return to full.

Report back.

Any ideas on how far the actuator arm is supposed to travel?

Just to let everyone know what happened. I removed turbo and found the veins completely seized. I disassembled the turbo and soaked the adjuster plate and veins in carbon remover and cleaned everything up. Re assembled and the little tractor runs like new. Thanks for all the help.
