I am trying to figure out engine code P1263 for my 2005 Crd Liberty Sport. I have found answers from "high low in cylinder 3" have no idea what that means, "bad glow plug cylinder 3" and that it is a code that just pops up when your EGR valve is going bad. I doubt that it is my EGR since I have been running the GDE tune for two years now with no EGR problem. As a whole my jeep is still running great. Sometimes my idle is a little rough after just starting and I did notice some smoke at WOT yesterday. I very rarely step on it but when I do there is an initial puff of smoke then it goes away. But yesterday the smoke stayed. It wasn't that much, but kind of what you would expect if one injector was not working well. So is it time to just head over to the dealership or is there something I can do first. I do need to tend to this soon since I can't pass smog with my CEL on.

P1263 is cylinder #2 failed glow plug. If you have the flash tool, just put it back to stock and then update the glow plugs (kit of 4 5volt metallic plugs and relay). Afterwards we will need to update the tune for the new style glow plugs. You do have other options for fixing the glow plug...a used ceramic 7volt stock plug or etecno 7volt metallic plug. Any option you chose has certain risks involved. What climate are you in? This is a big driver for the best solution. Give us a call if you want to discuss in more detail.
