After putting the hose clamp on, I'm still losing coolant somewhere. Not a fast leak, but a slow one where every couple days I have to add more coolant. Also my oil drain plug is leaking a little since my last oil change. I looked for this topic and didn't locate it. I have ordered one from the dealer but what's the alternative? I know I read it somewhere just can't find it again. |

Pressure test the cooling system, you will find the leak much faster. There are hoses that go to the EGR cooler that can leak too, check them also. On the drain plug, did you check or replace the copper washer? They do go bad. |

If you go with the fumoto valve do you still use a copper washer |

Throw away the stock plug and get a Fumoto but be sure to also get the little clip that prevents the lever from accidently being flipped open. FYI if you have to deal with stripped oil pan plug threads see geordi's post at viewtopic.php?f=5&t=63191&p=698855&hilit=stripped#p698855 |

It's my day off so i put the CRD in my brothers shop do a pressure test on the cooling syestem. Can't really find where it was coming from. So we jack it up pull the skid plate off. That's when we realized its my water pump leaking  . So since I'm at 93000 I guess I'm just gonna do the timing belt aswell. Anything else to consider while I'm gonna be tearing into this?

Yes there is, check to see that the water pump leak didn't cause the head to overheat and trashed your head gasket causing another coolant leak. Check for cooalnt in the crankcase and built up pressure in the bottle. |

Take it slow, have an assistant if possible as a spare set of hands and eyes is most helpful, mark everything so you can put it back in the position it came from, use the right tools (can be rented from GDE), and read up on all the posts regarding the job that you can find. The timing belt part of the job is 5-6 hours from start to finish. I'd imagine adding the water pump in would add another 3-4 hours so figure a weekend job so as to not rush yourself. Obviously stock up on the parts you will need, I understand water pumps have been scarce recently. You can get a good Gates TB from Amazon for much less than other options and it's just as good as OEM.. |

Luckily my used car dealer felt bad for me so he ordered my water pump and timing belt  . Is the tensioners necessary or just recommended?

OK so my parts are in and I'm planning on tearing into my libby this weekend. I know there are write-ups on the procedure for the water pump and timing belt change on this website, but do you know of a chiltons manual or a book of that sort for these jeeps? I asked my local part store to order one for me and they called me back later that day and said they didn't list one and couldn't find one. I not mechanically stupid i just like to have one for reference. |

I don't know of any after market books but you can get the FSMs in PDF format from Sam's NOOB guide. Be sure to download both the 05 and 06 FSM; 05 lacks diesel cooling section and diagnostics but has illustration keys while the 06 is the reverse. Combined with the writeups posted or linked here the FSMs are helpful but poorly laid out in the sense that the steps are not in sequence so you might want to print various pages and put them in the proper order. |
