My wife was in a bad crash on Friday afternoon while driving our CRD. She was traveling eastbound on highway 17, just East of Sault Saint Marie Ontario, where it is a divided highway. A lady tried to scoot across the highway from North to South , on a side road, which crosses the median, and did not seeing her coming. My wife tried to swerve around her and was only partially successful with the other car striking the drivers side rear of ours, sending my wife off the road into the ditch and shearing off a lamp post, rolling and coming to rest on the roof. She was trapped upside down for some time until 1st responders arrived to free her and transport her to hospital. She is very lucky. Aching all over, having bad headaches but could have been way worse. The Libby is VERY done. Be interesting to see next week what the adjuster value's our 06 with 125,000 kilometers at. I sense a disagreement coming. I need to figure out how to add a pic. AL |

Really sorry to hear that but glad your wife came through in relatively good shape. Fortunately they are sturdy little vehicles. When my 1st one got rear ended by a medium large dump truck containing 6 cu. yds of dirt, I stopped for the red light but he did not, the rear lift gate top was just about even with the driver's head rest and I had a tiny bruse where my knee hit the steering wheel adjustment lever. I have no clue how many times I spun in the intersection, I tried to dodge right and he tried to dodge left but neither of us enough (darned turbo lag), but the vehicle did not roll. At tow yard the next day the engine fired right up though. As far as value. I came out with enough to replace an 05 Sport with 16k miles with a nicely equiped 05 Limited with 26K miles with enough left over to replace the aftermarket radio plus a few extra bucks. All with no argument from the other owners insurance folks. Look for something similar in the way of insurance payment $s being similar to replacement value. Hopefully that will work out also. You might check around on line and see what similar CRDs are going for right now which I'd guess would be in the $13k range depending on condition, mileage, and options installed. |

I too am sorry to hear of your lose BUT am very glad that your wife will be alright. I hope too that the other person was okay. You can always get another Jeep. Haven't said anything until now, but we were in an unwanted off-road excursion on January 20. Hit ice, the #87 milepost, took down a divider fence between a cornfield the highway easement. Stopped in the corn field. No one seriously hurt, had the left rear go flat and it did $10k in damage. They valued it at $15k--an '05 Limited w/98k miles. State Farm responded admirably. Press for a total if you are in the 70-75% range for repair cost to value. Probably should have with mine, but it turned ourt okay. The Jeep dealer with a good body shop fixed it. Talk about tough, the engine kept running, I changed the flat, put it in 4-Lo and drove it out of the corn field! Most of the damage was the plastic but it also took a radiator support, all three coolers (Rad, CAC and Condensor). I now call my CRD "Thumper"-it's well earned. Hoosier CRD |

Thanks guys It really could have been far worse. Our CRD is a total write off, I have driveshafts in the back seat now as well as a roof squished down to the dashboard on the Passenger side. Thank God she was alone cause a passenger would not have done well. Both sides are heavily damaged especially the passenger side where I suspect she "met" the pole. You can try this news link. http://northernontario.ctv.ca/saultstemarie/ You have to use the arrows to navigate to Saturday's news "driver charged in serious Sault crash"then sit thru a labour dispute report. The more I see these pics the luckier I Know she was. PS the news guys are not all there with the facts. Other car was not traveling in the same direction it was a 90 degree strike. |

WOW, from the looks of it, it could have been worse. Glad she made it out OK and good luck on getting a comparable replacement vehicle. |

Wow......glad your wife wasn't serioulsy injured. A Jeep can be replaced but a life can't. I can't imagine the feeling of my wife being seriously injured or worse in a car accident. Jim |

Bless your heart. That sounded like an accident with fatality!!! Hope the best for you and your wife beyond any monetary settlement that might arise out of it. I also have State farm, and when I had a bad accident on a pick-up a couple of years ago I was more than please with the monetary outcome. Again, good luck and may God bless. |
