Hi all
I have recently purchased a Jeep KJ CRD 2007, I absolutely love this car, but have recently come across an issue...
The MAP sensor appears to have been recently replaced.
I was driving on a highway, overtook a truck which required a big boost and the turbocharger kicked in amazing, super responsive.
Once I slowed down, I couldn't get it back up to top speed- the car had entered limp mode. No smoke noted or any other issues, just unable to rev it up to speed.
Refuelled, restarted and the car ran fine, managed to boost it up and the turbocharger was working, all fine.
It struggled on and off, I took it to the mechanic- bad alternator + P0299 and some other codes. Alternator + battery replaced, car was running well again, no codes appeared afterwards.
I drove it around after picking it up today and limp mode happened again after I accelerated very hard to test the turbo. Disappears after restarting the engine, boosted the turbo and it was running well, no smoke.
Took it back to the mechanic- came back with P0299 (turbocharger underboss condition) and P0105 (turbocharger inlet pressure sensor).
Mechanic is worried it could mean turbo needs to be replaced... I'm not buying it as the turbo seems to be working fine it just cuts out after I give it a big boost.
What should I be checking for or worried about? Does it sound more like cracked hoses etc? Could P0105 trigger P0299?
