Hello all! New to the CRD world but I've been doing a lot of reading and have learned a lot in just a few days. I have a question that I haven't seen come up (or just can't find), so hopefully someone can shed some light. I've been trying to figure out if my CRD has the dreaded F37 done. After reading the way to tell by shift points I took her out and, just like the post says, I'm at about 1800 rpms at 60 mph, but when I hit 64ish it drops down to 1700 or so and won't come back up till about 59 mph. I thought "well if it runs this good with the F37 it must run REAL strong in stock form". So today I stopped by the local Chrysler dealer and asked them to run the vin and tell me if it had any warranty work done just to be sure. He didn't show anything except an F31 that allowed a controller to read the TCM.

SO, is it possible that a late 2006 might have had the F37 shift program from the factory but no de-tune?

'06 is F-37ed.
If you want lower shift points, and willing to put in a converter like a Suncoast with a Transgo Kit, send me a PM and I will send you the Chrysler Part # for a non F-37 TCM you can get from a salvage yard.

Honestly the shift points don't bother me but I apprieciate the offer. I was just trying to figure out if it has been de-tuned or not since I don't have anything to compare it to. SO are you saying that all 06's are F37'd (de-tuned and shift points changed?) or only the shift points?

Detuned from ~175HP to ~160HP and shift points raised to avoid having to replace the original Junk Torque Converter and mask the problem some of the front pumps had with a soft valve seat.

The later torque converter referred to as the Euro is what the stock converter should have been from day one, had Chrysler followed VM's recommendations and gone with larger dampener springs.
Suncoast converter with a Transgo can handle 400HP, much more than the VM 2.8L could ever put out. Guess I like to play it safe. With the higher FIAT infected Chrysler prices for a rebuilt version of the now stock Euro, the Suncoast is sweeter than it was when I did mine. The Transgo kit that fixes the valve body and the defect in the front pump (shown above) is cheaper than the new front pump.
The only way to determine if the front pump is good for sure (so you don't get the dreaded chatter) is to find a very competent Chrysler Dealer (~20% chance) who can hook up their special trans pan with all the pressure test lines and pay the big bucks for the test. Then they can only tell you if it is good when they test it, the pump could crap out the following week or be good for a long time, an unknown quantity.

What are the best prices/places to buy the Suncoast?

I have been researching and it looks like I am going to track down a non F37 TCM, save to buy a TC, PML "Deeper" pan along with a transgo kit. It looks like there are 2 avail, is the HD2 kit the one to go with? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TRG-45RFE-HD2

Thanks for the reply to my PM earlier btw :JEEPIN:

To get the converter for DIY: http://www.suncoastconverters.com/ Suncoast has had some Sales Staff growing pains, so if you get a Sales Guy/Gal that does not know about the Liberty CRD converter, ask for Ron Wolverton, he is the Boss.
The kit in your link is the one, just don't install the resistor, the TCM learns around it and it becomes useless in a few days/weeks. For the PML deep pan, shop around, I got mine from a Trailer Hitch place who wanted to unload it for less. PML wanted a lot more on their web site.

Awesome, thank you for the clarification! Now I know where I stand and what I stand to gain with some mods. For now I'm just getting the basics done (Oil/air seperator, ORM, filter head, clean map, etc), but eventually I'll spring for a tune and trans mods. I can't leave things alone for long.

Thanks again!
