Post subject:  shifting problems?

i own 06 liberty crd with 99000 miles. had too the tranny shop because it strated slipping baddly. the metal screen filter had fallen out of the rubber grommet and was not allowing the pump too pick up the atf. now it doesnt want too shift from 2nd to 3rd. i read on here about them having a limp mode. so i replaced the fuel filter. and while i did that i unhooked the + battery cable. thinking that would clear it. but then i took it down the block but still doing it. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you positive the transmission shop used ATF-4 transmission fluid?

Did you get it scaned for codes?
Was a pressure test done at the trans shop?
Sounds like you are in limp mode. I would take it back to the trans shop and have them check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes with a scaner. :(

I'd drop the pan and double check to ensure they put the pan filter back in correctly and ensure the filter didn't split at the seam. I think my filter being split at the seam from my last change occured because I probably didn't take sufficient care to ensure it was installed evenly as I was pressing it into place. Tranny fluid is cheap compared to what a shop would charge just for a diagnosis.

I drove up too the shop and it ran perfectly.didn't skip a beat. They are going too check for codes. When it went the first time it was throwing gear ratio codes. How do you clear the limp mode?

A bit off topic but given your mileage I hope you have a timing belt job planned in the relatively near future.

Yes due at 100,000. Do a search on it and see what happens when the belt breaks. It is a pay me now or pay alot later.
