The guy I spoke with has the sonnax tool to ream the bore of the valve (on teh front side pump) and he said sleving it with a billet and installing the new valve is the way to go. But since I will be there in a couple weeks, I'm listening

In a couple of weeks, I'm having the torque converter replaced with the Euro version. I'm wondering if the front pump should be replaced at the same time? My Jeep has almost 120,000 miles on it now. At 46,000 miles, the original front pump was replaced with a PN 68009879AB. That was 74,000 miles ago. I think that the latest revision of the pump is an AE. Does anyone know what's been improved, and would it be wise to replace the pump for an additional 600 bucks or so? Anything else in the tranny that should be given some attention while we're in there? Thanks for any ideas Doug |

We followed GDE 's suggestion to replace just the TC with the euro. Been towing 5000 lbs for 50 K with no problems (over 100 K total). DOC |

When I talked to my local transmission specialist, he recommends replacing the the oil pump when you have the transmission out for TC replacement. He stated it is a wear item and should be replaced. I plan to do this in the spring.  A Transgo kit is an a good addition.

Replace the front pump at the same time. When my converter died I did not replace it. I pulled it apart and checked it out and cleaned it. After getting every thing back together the jeep ran for 1 day and the pump sized and took out the hub on the new converter. It also burned up the low/reverse input clutch's. I would hate to see any one have to deal with what I had to. Replace pump at the same time as converter. |
