Sort of depends on the vehicle and the amount of soot/oil going into the turbo/EGR. My 05 looked like a mosquito fogger under semi-full throttle power and had soot stains on the rear bumper above the exhaust while stoutdog's 06 was not nearly as bad. Once we got the GDE EcoTune smoke pretty much disappeared.

Note though that there are excess fuel conditions, which are unrelated to the tune, that can produce smoke although IIRC that smoke is really excessive.

Have you cleaned your MAP sensor recently?

It really depends on the color of the smoke, it could just as easily be a bad turbo seal, among other things. :JEEPIN:

Since Diesels do not run under vacuum, diesel turbos do not use seals like gassers do.
If you have a clogged up return line, there will be oil leaking past the turbo shaft.
If you use a quality synthetic oil and allow the turbo to cool down, the chance of clogging up the return line is very slim. Again some people can break or destroy anything, even a piece of Caterpillar Equipment :D .
Oil in the turbo inlet side is from crankcase ventilation. Provent, an oil seperator, or EHM can solve that problem.

Seems like a lot of different opinions and I do appreciate all the input. Since my air filter is changed my MAF and MAP sensors are cleaned and I did the EHM I'm going to change the fuel filter and hope for the best. Any videos on how to change the fuel filter out there. Thanks
