First question: shouls shocks and strits be changed out at a certain km or when the vehicle feels like it needs it?

Second question: was looking at OME shocks and struts, how long can I expect to last? Better products on the market for the same price range? Also with the OME, what is the difference between regular rear struts and the longer rear struts?

Thanks. Peace.

1st the KJ uses shocks on all 4 corners, the fronts are a "coilover shock" design.Struts do not have a upper control arm,the KJ has a upper control arm.

After that being said the average life span of the factor shocks(non-high performance stuff) is about 30,000-50,000 miles. Most aftermarket stuff is also every 30,000-50,000 miles before there shot.Higher quiality stuff like OME and Bilstiens are generally twice that so about 60,000-100,000 miles.

Thanks for the response. Couple other questions have dawned after reading and looking through the sites that carry OME parts.

Is the medium setup the best for a CRD not being used to tow anything? Do I need spacers or anything when I purchase new shocks/struts or it is a fairly straight forward swap?

Peace.

Well first thing is first do you every plan on adding any armor (front/rear bumper or heavy skids) ? Because if so just get the heavy OME and don't worry they still ride great all the same. Also if you just want and upgrade in ride quality and a little gain in height then no need for anything.

One last question. What is up with the 'long' rear shock? Is there a specific purpose of the 'long' rear shock or is it just some kind of added bonus?

Thanks for all the input.

Peace.

The 132L is meant for people who add little extras to thier rear lift (extra rear iso, or custom spacers). Once again if you are just looking for the improved ride quality and not lift go with the regular stuff for the rear i have them and even with my lift they still ride alot better then stock. And please feel free to keep up with the questions this is a site all about sharing knowledge of these odd little jeeps.

Awesome. I will throw down what I think is a good combo from JeepinbyAl and do let me know if it will hinder my ride or make it not ideal in anyway. I only do this because $800 is a bad thing to gamble with. I just want a smooth ride with a quality product that will last and work best for my jeep.

Front: 0-110 lbs. OME 927 Springs NS131 Strut
Rear: Diesel Med. OME 948 Springs N132 Shocks

Peace.

You need the OME 790 front coils. The OME 927 front coils are rated less then what your factory front coils are,400lbs for the OME 927's and 410lbs for the stock CRD front coils.

Don't pay attention to the different rear bumpers, look at the axle/tires compared to the body..........

You will need to make brake line extension for the rear brake line,2 extensions if you have a '06 or risk breaking the rear brake lines at full flex.

Is this a concern with the setup I am going to use if I do not use 'long' rear shocks?

Your pictures never came through on my comp.

I have an 06 Liberty. I am okay with buying the med or h/d shock/struts but I do not want to buy too stiff of equiPment if I do not need it. I worry about to stiff of a ride with the h/d. Is this a concern or will the stiffness difference be unnoticable?

Well are you a gasser or CRD? And buy either the medium range shocks and coils or anything above that anything below that is useless. Also are you planning on Off roading any or are you just buying them for and improved ride?

Post subject:  Re: Shocks and Struts

CRD for sure. Looking for improved ride with some off roading planned. Mainly smoother ride. Willing to spend the money on a product that is good quality and will last awhile. If OME is the way to go I am down. Thanks everyone who has dealt with this therapy session :ROTFL:

Peace.

OME I have 45K on mine rides like a dream and hasn't sagged a bit and I am by no means a light CRD.
