What are some of the tricks in changing this? I have a dealer that wants to charge me 300 to change it

If you mean 5066882AA it's a ca. $75 list part (online about $55 but shipping to your 20 may add up) IIRC to change it you will need to: 1. pull the turbo to intercooler and airbox to turbo hoses - 4 worm clamps 2. disconnect the exhaust from the turbo and let the exhaust hang down - 1 marmon clamp 3. remove the heat shield on the back passenger corner of the engine - 1 bolt into block at the top (easy to get to but hard to see) and 1 bolt into what appears to be the bell housing or a bell housing shield 4. remove sensor - 1 bolt or maybe 2 and 1 electrical plug 5. install new sensor probably with a new "O" ring 6. reverse install everything. Without checking I think you might need to remove the coolant recovery tank. If so there are 2 nuts/bolts on the firewall to remove then you can slide the tank forward off its bottom bracket and undo the low coolant sensor on the bottom. You do not need to drain the tank coolant but you may need to detach/reroute/reattach a coolant hose so you can move the coolant tank around as you work. Shouldn't take more than 1 hr or so with the right tools. Figure fair cost from there depending on local shop rates + taxes. |

$300.00 WOW. I have replaced the Crank Sensor on CRD #2. Disregard steps #1 and #2 YOU DO NOT have to loosen the exhaust pipe at all or anything else on top as directed in the FSM. Laying a creeper remove the heat shield and the bracket bolt holding the Sensor connector block. Its tight but not bad, you will need an assortment of 3/8" extensions and metric sockets. The bolt holding the sensor has a socket head, a metric hex (Allen) wrench is needed, be prepared for that. Can't remember the sizes of wrench or the sockets needed. |

I have heard that I could skip the first two steps but any other tips would be helpful. I will call the dealer and ask them to button it up and I’ll wait for the part and do it myself. AK |

Well I removed the radiator tank and then the heat shields it was done in 2 hrs. I will test drive tomorrow to see if the stalling issue is solve. Thanks everyone |
