ps , black smoke is not conductive for high rail pressure ...is the opposite , high pressure heat the fuel and increase spray and burn well and do less smoke , but you do not obtain more fuel like a chip module on the rail sensor ...is different logic , black smoke is your egr and or your intake .....inlet or outlet cac or the intercooler ...or the egr that leak turbo pressure or you do something wrong in the ecu

Hi all, after a short pause i am back

Yeti i know, i did not mean black smoke like you know from low pressure IDI /TDI diesels. It was only a light "puff" 8)

But that is not important at this moment. I still have P0093. I have replaced one of the 2 remanufactured injectors with brand new one. It had higher correction values and i suspected that one to have a leak into backline (waste or whatewer is it called in english). So i replaced that one, but no change.

I try to summarize it again, maybe someone has an idea.

The car starts withou any problems - hot or cold max on 2-3 crank turns.
Has plenty of power, no lack or hesitation or whatever.
If you floor it, you can do that up to the empty tank and it runs without any problem no matter what gear you are in.

But accelerate it to approx. 120-140 km/h, then let it cruise down to 60-80 (below 2000 rpm) with a light foot on the gas and then moderately accelerate again. If you play with it like that you get P0093 quite easily and it goes to limp in mode. That is the only error.
But if you downshift and floor it, it will go like a hell without any DTC

So far:

replaced cracked EGR pipe
new filter head and new filter
in-tank lift pump
new injectors (3 are brand new, one is remanufatured)
overhauled CP3 pump, new MProp valve, new overflow valve....
fuel rail and regulator swapped from another libby, so 2 tested an both seem to be OK (at least in another car)
installed a piece of clear tubing to observe air bubbles - nothing there

Tryed to delete the P0093 DTC from the ECU, no luck. I do not have dtc set, bu it goes to limp-in mode anyway.
Tryed to modify fuel maps (thanks to Yeti) , but without luck either.

There MUST BE SOMETHING in that fu..ing fuel system. But i do not know what. I start to be frustrated from the whole
thing and i do not want to throw more time and funds into that piece of crap anymore.

any ideas anybody?

thx

So it seems to be SOLVED for now.

I managed to get some spares from a crashed libby so i gave it a try

I removed the fuel injection pump (FIP) again and replaced with other one.
I reused my original (new) Mprop valve because the one from the crashed car had a broken connector.

Now it runs fine, starts in a second, no DTCs... so it looks like there is a problem in my overhauled FIP.
I am going to send it back to the diesel repair shop and they will get some serious :furious: :furious:

The only thing which wonders me is that the car had more "pep" with the original(faulty) FIP , specialy
at higher RPM. It ran like a hell until i let the foot off the pedal, then i had the P0093 DTC.

Now with new FIP i have no DTCs but it feels a little bit lazy comparing to the state with the old FIP.
To make it clear, i do not consider it as a fault, it is still within limits, but i liked the previous state more.
Any ideas?

what do you mean with that?

As far as i know timing the IP has no power/power loss effect. It is a simple rotary 3 piston pump
with flow rate much higher than a libby crd rail can consume so the rail pressure (once built)
is kept within limits regardless of the IP position.

Being "timed" improperly the only thing it affecs is the possibility of knock/slap noise

something like described here
http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/3rd-g ... sults.html

The triangle marks on the IP and cam pulleys are not for timinig purposes. So states also the FSM
