In this thread: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=66892 Mr. Mopar suggested checking roller wheels for wear on a rig with 107K on it and possibly replacing them. I try to follow this board pretty closely. I don't recall this idea coming up to do before a timing belt failure. Can you elaborate? Thanks! DOC |

Probably sound advice but jeeze, this should be a 300,000 mile engine with proper care and using the correct oil. Mr.Mopar, do you information of problems that we should know about? |

Listen to and be indoctrinated in the Detroit Bean Counter Engineering Religious virtues of 0W-40 oil that is devoid of Zinc dithiophosphate and you will need to follow their advice and replace your cam rollers. Use oil with Zinc dithiophosphate or add Zinc dithiophosphate and you can ignore their recommendations down the road. Why has Zinc dithiophosphate being/been eliminated? To extend the life of emission cataylist equipment that our CRDs don't use, but some other cars & trucks do use. So even if you have intimate relationships with trees and other plant life and totally go for the Climate Change Religion, you won't be committing any wrong full acts by using Zinc dithiophosphate in your CRD. |

Have been using ZDP additive since 20K miles with each 5K oil change (Mobil 1 00-40 winter/ 5-40 summer). I figured since there is no CAT to screw up, what's the harm? It's supposed to be for flat tappet motors, in particular, but hopefully it will help with the longevity of the rollers on the CRD. Wonder why Mr. Mopar has not responded as of yet... DOC |

You do realize this was in response to someone with 106K miles and getting engine codes...... |
