Post subject:  Confusing noise

Hello,
Well I'm having a weird noise happening. It's at its loudest at around 40-45mph, @ around 2000rpm. It sounds like a wheel bearing or tire noise, but I know it isn't because it goes with engine RPM because if I let off the fuel, it goes away, it will also go away above that rpm. I'm already suspecting my Torque Converter going to crap because I get a Vibration @ around 45-50mph before it shifts, but don't know if it may be from that as well. The noise seems to be coming from the pass side of the Jeep as well. Any ideas, questions or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

I went out to the garage to take just a once over look under the hood and think I may have found the problem, I think it may be the Viscous fan, my engine was still a little warm (shut off almost 2 hours before checking, but block heater was plugged in) and found the fan a little difficult to move, will have to recheck tomorrow before I go to work.

Have you checked for the noise with it in park and engine at 2000 rpm or at the rpm you hear it going down the road? That would tell you if it is engine related problem. Hope this helps. :2cents:

Noise only happens at around 40-45mph, but it goes with engine RPM, because it stopped when I threw it in neutral and came back when I put it in gear, so it goes with engine load.

I would check the u joints and c/v for the transfer case as well. But it could be the t/c. Just my thoughts.
