Hey guys... A while back there was a topic about what folks tow with their CRD. I finally had a chance to get a couple of pic of the trailer I tow with my CRD after I got off the scales at a truck stop. The trailer is 7.5' wide by 16" long with the tongue. It is a concession trailer so I knew it was going to be heavy when it was loaded and ready for a festival but I wanted to hit some scales to verify. As it sits in the pics hooked up to the Jeep.....5100 pounds. Pic of the Jeep and trailer: ![]() Pic of the hitch: ![]() Pic of the Jeep to see how much sag there is from the tonque weight: ![]() And this is what it looks like when it is in place and all set up: ![]() It tows pretty nicely as long as the weight is balaced right inside with all of the stock product in it. The cool thing was that I avereaged 19.7 MPG (according to the EVIC) towing it to the truck stop. Normally I get around 18 MPG pulling it. I'm seriously considering adding a weight distributing hitch if for no other reason that to cover myself in the event of an accident. I'd hate to have to explain to someone why I wasn't using one when it says I need to in the manual for that kind of weight. Jim |

Here is a better pic of the Jeep and the trailer. I was able to take this one straight from the side rather than at an angle. This was from a couple of weeks earlier. The trailer was a bit lighter but still prolly pushing 4600 pounds. ![]() Jim |

You must be the favorite member to show up at any meet & greet!!! As long as you bring and set up the trailer. |

while the weight distribution addon will help you could just start at the rear suspension and add in the coilover shock helper srping kit monroe sells. |

Thanks for the relpies. I'll definately look into both of those options as well as some tires that are a bit more stout. I'm running stock size BF Goodrich Long Trail T/A's that have been great tires but im looking at some that have a higher load rating as it is almost time to replace them. Are either the air bags or the shock helper springs difficult to install? I was reading about the spring air bags once and I thought I recalled it saying something about some cutting in the installation process. Never thought about the meet and greet but if there ever is one in this area.....funnel cakes baby At least we'd have some refreshments Jim |

the monroe shocks w/ helper springs are no harder to install than any other set of shocks on this vehicle. |
