Post subject:  Crank positioning sensor location? Please help!

Dose anyone know where i can find the crank positioning sensor on my CRD please? I've been looking for it at least 3days in a row and can't locate it and I really don't want to take the jeep to the dealer for such a small swap(I hope). This is my only way to get around town and i need to get it running again fast. A 1st I thought it was my fuel filter so I changed it and also cleaned the MAP sensor, dirty also but clean now. It runs great but stalks on me when it reaches normal operating temp in the middle of the gauge, no clunk noise or anything just cuts off and I need to wait about 10 to 15 min until I can start it again and then it runs a little more and dose it again. I've had some experience on my CRD so I'm not new to the motor or where things are located jus t this one part.

Well - if you take your Service Manual that you got from the Noob guide - and scroll through looking for sensor
on Page 9-176 (05 Manual) - you'll see an image Figure 12 - passenger side - back of the block
looks like it's held in with 1 bolt - might have to pull some parts to get there.

Get under the passenger side of the car from the front. As you're looking up at where the exhaust connects there's an aluminum heat shield up and behind you. I don't know if it's completely necessary to take that off, but I did. Then you should be able to see an angled bracket holding an electrical connection. Follow the smooth cable back to the block, and you're there! You will need a mirror to see this.
