I just want to let you know I have a 2005 liberty sport CRD for sale, it has 124000 miles, it is not running, the dealership said it needs two new injectors and new glo-plugs. The timing belt has not been changed yet, but it's OK and the engine starts right up and runs. The body is in excellent condition and has absolutely no dings, dents, etc., its Khaki color, and has a six disc CD player/stereo, cruise control, etc., Seat covers, inside is a little dirty but otherwise in perfect condition as well. The tires are almost new, it has a luggage rack. The four wheel drive works great I'm just tired of dealing with it The engine has been maintained except for the issues I mentioned, send me and e-mail and make an offer. :pepper:

The timing belt needs to be changed, but it has not slipped or broke. The vehicle is otherwise in excellent condition, if someone was going to do the repairs themselves the cost would be maybe $1,000 to $1,200 for parts, plus their time, so what's it's value now before repairs, I'd take $7,000 for it and you can drive it, but I would pull it up on a trailer and haul it away just so you do not take a chance and damage the engine, right now it's very fixable. :pepper:

Yea... Right, the thing is drivable. I said it before in the other thread and I will say it again here: These engines DO NOT suffer mechanical or timing issues politely. You are gambling with an $8,000 repair job if you attempt to drive this thing even up onto a trailer. I lost a turbo, something completely external to the engine. In the ensuing 30 seconds after the turbo failed, the loss of oil pressure caused critical damage to the #1 cylinder. It failed completely less than 10 miles later on the test drive with the new turbo and full of oil.

When the new engine was installed, it ran great until it was on the test drive, then the timing slipped b/c the tensioner was over-torqued and trashed all the rockers. Instantly.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RUN THIS ENGINE UNTIL YOU PULL THE HEAD OFF. This is being said out of knowledge of this vehicle, and the absolute certain knowledge that an electrical problem (relay / computer / injector / etc) CANNOT CAUSE MECHANICAL NOISES that you have described.
