A few weeks ago I read about an upgrade available for the CRD that would improve performance on the site but I can't remember what it was. I think it had to do with green technologies. Any help?

Have you used the flash programmer? I would like to hear of anyone's experience with doing the programming and if it has really made a performance difference. Thanks

I swear by mine. I bought the programmer. When I do my TC, I will get the hot tune.

I didn't use the flash programmer but it makes a night and day difference in how the CRD drives.
Depending on which tune you get some, all or more of your CRD's original power is restored on a CRD that has had Cherysler's F37 preformed that reduced available torque to work around a weak torque converter :dizzy:

is programming a simple process? Do you have to buy a particular program like efficiency or high performance. For the flash drive.

Very simple. GDE is great. Install software on tour computer, make a copy of your current ECU programming, copy it to your computer, email it to GDE. In no time, they emailed me my customized tune, copied it to the programmer, and flashed the ECU.

Finally bit the bullet and ordered my GDE Tune just a minute ago. I can't wait to get it. Keith has been great on answering my questions.

I recommend the eco tune if you have the stock TC. Yes you can get the hot tune and keep a light foot. But you know, if the power is there, you will use it. I am happy right now with my eco tune.

With the Eco tune, how much difference did you see? I mean, i would like to get the hot tune but dont want to risk any damage. Plus the wife doesnt see the point of a tuner unless it gets better economy....

EcoTune runs just fine with stock TC and we just finished a 1,900 mile run on I-10 from Tempe, AZ to Tallahassee, FL with 2 adults in a fully loaded 06 CRD towing a fully loaded 5X8 UHaul trailer with zero shudder and a hand calculated GPS corrected mpg right about 21 mpg, varied a bit depending on terrain. With that tune and the GDE TCM tune the tranny only dropped out of 5th about 6-8 times, total, when we hit some rather steep, by I-10 standards, grades. We could clear similar grades without a downshift when we paid attention and ran the speed up a bit above the cruise setting before starting the grade.

In normal operation, not like above, both I and stoutdog have experienced an mpg improvement of 10-20% from the EcoTune. That's hand calculated/GPS corrected and the increase is above whatever mpg your current driving style produces. The TCM tune provides a slight bump in mpg but only in town. The TCM tune's main advantage is lowering shift points to more like pre-F-37 and lockup in lower gears so once you are on the hwy there is no TCM mpg improvement UNLESS you want to run at say 55mph in 5th lockup in which case mpg would likely be fantastic if you can stand the speed.

Diesel Power Magazine did some excellent blogs and articles on the liberty and the GDE tunes. Search their site at www.dieselpowermag.com. That is what convinced me to buy the Liberty and the tune. I wanted an 03 to 07.5 dodge at the time, but couldn't justify it.

Man, you ain't jokin' about that. Keith is incredibly helpful. In my book, a must-have ally if you own a CRD.

Again Keith has been following with me even before the flash box has arrived. He really does provide top notch customer service.
