Ive learned a lot about my wife's CRD in the past three weeks. We definitley had lots of air in the fuel, so I replaced the fuel filter head, and no more air. Idled fine, and after warmup, maintained 3,000 RPMs .. Took it for a drive, and stalled out over 2,000 RPMs, started up immediately, tromped on it, stalled out.. Time after time.. Checked for air, no air, solid fuel. It's now at the only dealership that would have a literate conversation with me, Outten, in Hamburg Pa. The diesel certified mechanic has determined that the fuel pressure solenoid has gone bad.. $600 part.. Why, and how often does this part go bad? And, how likely is it for the high pressure pump to have failed? At this point I'm completely disgusted with this vehicle... Any thoughts?

Do you have a lift pump? That has been the solution for most of us. Doubt the fuel pressure solenoid went bad. I have a brand new one in the box that I'd be glad to sell you, but I'd wager that what you really need is a lift pump.
