Hi All. Was just changing my air filter and serpentine belt and noticed the fuel/water filter looked a bit dirty - funny...i just replaced that a few weeks ago. Bit more digging around and I seem to be venting/leaking a little fuel from the FCV area.

Anyone else found this to be common? I have new samco hoses about 10,000km ago and i checked the hose is good and tight.

Here is a picture:

If that's the flow control valve body the intercooler to engine hose connects too that's not fuel it's oil coming thru the CAC lines from the CCV (hockey puck on top of engine) thru the turbo>turbo to intercooler hose>intercooler to here. My initial thought is you need to check the worm clamp on the Samco for tightness; should be good and snug but not godzilla. If it's tight I'd hit that area with a bit of degreaser to clean it off and keep an eye on it as you driver for the oil source. There is a gasket and "O" ring associated with the FCV to intake elbow that could be leaking (see pg 14-730 of the 2005 parts manual download from Sir Sam's NOOB guide)

ooopss....sorry...its not fuel leaking. its definitely oil.....i just noticed the oil splatter over my fuel/water filter and that got me looking.

im pretty sure its not coming from Samco hose connection. If you look at the picture you can see the hose joint is actually clean in the little groove there so im guessing the oil is coming from the firewall side of the samco hose joint and is blowing across that gap??? Or i guess the leak could be coming from the hose and the air expelled is cleaning out the hose-fitting gap.

Thanks for the starter idea.

Brett

There are four long hex headed bolts that hold the FCV onto the Intake Elbow. If these bolts were loose, or even one of them, you could be losing oil through that assembly. It is is splattering then it must be coming out under pressure.
