Easy Job?
Stays on for about 3 mins at startup. Cooling System appears fine, full and no leaks under the car after parking.

I assume the cold coolant level is steady so you are not loosing coolant.

As to the job - the parts manual says 05161400AA 1 SENSOR, Coolant Level, Serviced in pressurized coolant bottle only, (NOT SERVICED) whatever that means. I've had the coolant tank off but honestly paid no attention to whether the sensor could be removed or not. Removal of the tank is not difficult - 1) undo the 2 bolts/nuts (forget which) that hold the top "wings" of the tank to the firewall; 2) slid the tank forward off the invisible metal bracket (NOTE on rinstall it's ok to just rest the tank on top of this bracket); 3) unclip coolant level sensor wire; 4) there is one obvious hose running from the tank toward the passenger side fender that can be unclipped and rerouted which will allow you to take a look at the bottom of the tank without removing any of the other hoses or draining fluid. Take a look at the sensor and see if it can be removed and swapped out; if so it should be easy at this point although you may have to drain the tank to do it.

The Fiche doesn't show the sensor as a part in the bottle btw, so I am not sure. where it is.

just to be clear,

the overflow bottle is right on the cold mark in the morning,
the radiator fill when twisted open just bleeds coolant
the thermostat does not go above the tick before mid gauge location when at running temp, been at that location since I installed the inline 195 F t-stat mod

the warning and sometimes chime only goes on after sitting, like at a light or parked,

I have never had any coolant puddles around the vehicle when parked, only fluid has been a'c condensation when the a'c has been running

based on these items I'm lead to belief it's the sensor. Any suggestions?

I would try a tad more coolant first. It won't hurt anything and just burp out the excess. After my IHT mod, I couldn't tip my recovery pan enough to get all the coolant into the tank so I added to a bottle that was opened. After a warmup and cooloff cycle, my LoCool came on for just a few oz of coolant.

Odd either my post failed to take or it has disappeared. Anyway item 3 in my writeup refers to unplugging the coolant sensor wire. That's underneath the coolant tank which is why you have to remove the tank for access. I did not look at the sensor when geordi and I did my turbo install so I don't know how it comes out but that part # I posted comes up as valid for a coolant level sensor at a cost of $10-15. It must be pretty common as there is a Airtex aftermarket one and it appears Car Quest has it too.

The Airtex version picture is at http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=1186524 . Looks to me like it's a simple push in/pull out fit based on what appears to be a silicone sealing gasket and the mechanism is a simple float.

You may want to try replacing your radiator cap first, it may have weakened over time causing the coolant low level device to falsely activate.

the pressure cap wasn't sealing completely. I replaced that and everything is fine

Easier and probably a cheaper fix.
