Anyone have a trick for removing the smell of power service from carpets. Seems like about a cap full leaked out of the bottle... Definitely not much, but that stuff stinks so bad it's almost unbearable. Please tell me it gets better. First thing I tried was soapy water... No effect Baking soda... Slightly better for a small time More soap and more water with a carpet cleaner... Well the carpet looks clean but still stinks Tray of activated carbon beneath the carpet (slide in bw the gap in carpet and metal)... Will have to wait and see. Anything else to try?? Thanks. |

You don't like the smell of Power Service? You could try pouring some Hoppe's No. 9 on it. Actually, I spilled some PS in my car, it took a while but the smell did go away completely. Just give it time and try to park it in the sun. For cleaning, did you try any degreaser like "Oil Eater" or Simple Green? Also, if it was the back carpet, just drill out the rivets on the hold downs and you can take the carpet and the pad out easily. |

Get a 20 lb bag of BBQ charcoal and slice the top of the bag wide open. Leave it in the closed up Jeep overnight and the smell will be gone on the morning. |

And call all your friends from the LOST CRD Section to help you dispose of all those steaks and burgers... No clue how to get rid of the CRD people tho.

Haha, great responses everyone, left the car at my parents house last night as they have a garage so I could leave the windows open all night... My father told me this morning it wasn't nearly as bad as before, he gets the pleasure of driving it to work this morning, told him to pick up a big back of charcoal to go along with activated carbon already in there. If this doesn't work I'll drill out the rivets and remove the carpet, although I kinda like the smell of power service, I'm supposed to take a 600+ mile road trip to Maine with my girlfriend and I have the sneaking suspicion that it wouldn't fly with her. Powerservice beer brats anyone? |

I spilled 3 gallons of gas in the back seat of my old car (red can had a slow leak and it was there all day). I used cheap coffee grounds (new, not used) and dumped them over the carpet and left it for a week. The coffee really absorbed the fuel and smell. |

after you get the smell out you may want to order a cargo liner from husky liner. I have one in my jeep from previous owner and same thing happened to me in the winter. clean up was much easier. the liner will contain the spill and had high sides so none got in my carpet. it washed up with soap and water. My cargo area carpeting still looks brand new under there too. |

u can always ditch the carpet and spray truck bed liner thats what i would do bin planing on doing that myself but not top on the list |

After a few days with the charcoal in there the smell is only really noticeable when you put your nose on the carpet. Good call. I'll have to remember coffee grinds for next time, I've heard that from several people now. Thanks everyone. I definitely need to get the cargo liner, how is the fit of the husky, mikey? |

The fit on my Husky front and middle seat mats is very good so I'm sure the Husky cargo mat fit is good too. But something you might want to consider is the Husky and similar liners are somewhat hard plastic which is great for containing things but not so great for keeping things from sliding around or falling over especially in the cargo area. Options to deal with the sliding or falling issue include a Catch-All rear cargo liner with the velcro hold down bracket accessory; an "egg crate" type box tied off for small stuff; or something like a folding trunk organizer such as http://www.trunkorganizer.com/p/6-way-t ... nizer.html of which there are a bunch of choices. |

I have a WeatherTech liner in mine, fits well, and is not hard like some liners I have seen in the past (currently $110). I can attest that it stays flexible even when it is really cold out. The Cabela's "Trail Gear 2" ($120) are identical to the WeatherTech's. |
