Without looking up to codes what normal causes this is 1 or more bad wheel speed sensors (on an 05 1 on @ front wheel and 1 for both rear wheels high on top of differential). It's not uncommon for the wire to that rear one to break inside the insulation between the sensor and the nearest wiring harness plug. Can be checked with a continuity meter.

If you play a lot in read mud it is most likely the rear sensor is shot. If you just did some brake work or a wheel bearing replacement probably a front wheel sensor that is if you have abs. That would be the first thing to check yours being and 05.

i had the same problem as this and i replaced both my front wheel bearing and the sensors and wires came together in the kit and now everything is back to normal. Like someone else if you wheel in the mud that what could have killed them. that is exactly what happened to mine.

I will add that if you replace the wires going to the sensor and you still have the problem, switch the wires around. Sounds to me that your rear diff speed sensor wires are broken and need to be replaced. Its very inexpensive and easy to do.

I recently encoutered this problem on my friends CRD.......the sensors had both broken off in the front hubs.....but new sensors didn't solve it......teeth had broken off inside the unit bearing.

New unit bearings solved the problem.

How much are the unit bearings? Are they difficult to remove and replace? I have the same issue, replaced a front sensor and re-wired a rear sensor that had no continuity but still have the ABS / ESP lights on..... :x

Not too bad to replace really. No more than .5 hours per side.

For price.....check rockauto or any other pars retailer.

Did you actually check the rear sensor because they do go bad and they are usually the ones o go bad.

All 4 sensors tested good. I need to find a code reader to see what whell is still giving issues.

Have you had the system open at all lately. bleed the brakes? If so you may need to take it to the dealer to have the ABS hydralic control unit bled as well.

I found it was just as cheap to have them do a brake fluid flush, same procedure except you get new fluid.

edit-- sorry reread the subject. this would not cause odo to stop.

Sorry about the long wait, but it was an easy fix

The wire going to the sensor on the right front had come loose and was sawed in half by the rotor.

A quick fix solder and everything back to normal

When I start my jeep the ABS is off and works about 1 tenth of a mile but the first time you hit the brake the pedal feels like the ABS is trying to work "pedal modulation or what ever you want to call it" then the ABS light kicks on my odometer and trip stop working. So here is what ive done so far. I replaced All 3 sensors on my 2005 and checked continuity and its good but ive still got an ABS light and no odometer or trip meter. When I had the fronts out i checked inside the hub and did not see any broken or missing teeth and I guess Im gonna crack the rear diff open and check it out any other ideas where to go with this?
