I'm on a mission for a CRD for a good price and good condition and came across this, I asked him why so much and he said because he is the only one in Canada that has done the timing belt change correct. I've come across guys like this before, I don't think anyone knows more then him, :dizzy: good for a laugh. :SOMBRERO:

Quote from his reply

"I don’t have to defend my position, I own a company that supplies every engine part on these engines. I know what people are buying to repair them, and they aren’t even replacing the timing belts let alone anything else!

The tools to replace the timing belt can only be purchased from one supplier, and I asked them how many were sold in Canada, and they said none other than mine! So we can glean from this that I have the only one with the necessary timing belt components replaced at the correct interval. Read the ad I not only did this, I replaced the cam seals and replaced the EGR with a stainless replacement. This one has options that are exclusive to this truck, it is the only one I know with Bluetooth out of the factory, along with factory tire pressure sensors. Like I say it is the best one in Canada.

I am asking what I am asking because I am informed, and have replaced the necessary components at the correct intervals! No one else has; it is a simple as that! Ask the others if you can read their service records, you are certain to be disappointed!"

Good news/bad news, right?

He may be the only one in Canada that did all the required service according to the specified service intervals, and replaced every component with factory authorized (tm, sm, pm) parts - or better.

Props for the service, but the price will drive 'em away... :ALONE:

Mark

He's a funny guy, eh?

"stainless" EGR? Yea... no such thing exists. Changed the cam seals? Which ones exactly? I don't think any seal has a maintenance schedule, but this fool is probably one that thinks to change the timing belt, you have to remove the radiator / intercooler / AC system from the engine bay and go in from the front. Oh, and the tools might be "MADE" by only one company (Miller, FYI) but I'm sure there is more than one supplier of Miller tools in all of Canadia that this fool wouldn't believe if you told him. EVERY CRD (or Liberty in general) came with the tire pressure sensors from the factory, it was required before 2005. They might not have the EVIC, but if you have a CRD, you have the tire sensors. As for Bluetooth... Yea, so what? So you got an uprated radio, I don't know if any radio Mopar would have factory-installed had BT back then, maybe the original selling dealer installed it, thus making it a "from new" uprated option?

Oh well, he must not want to sell his truck after all. I'll happily sell you mine for half his price, and you can read about the entire history of my truck by reading my posts.

What a Moron.

That is hilarious I can think of a few that have done the tb change without the tools. Also last i check you normally do the timing belt change before the interval not on it. Also i know if he knows a dang thing about his jeep except how to take it to the dealer and say go for it.

Now now... maybe the way he does it required new cam seals! :ROTFL:

Sounds like he owns a stealership. So the price seems typical to me. :goink:

Edit: After actually reading his ad, I think he owns jeepers.ca where all the parts came from. I better behave, I may need parts :!:

What a joke! The required change is 160,000KM (100,000 miles) so he thinks it is worth 12K more than market value cause he did a $600 timing belt job. For 15K I would sell mine tomorrow with less KM than his. And mine is a Limited and has 2 sets of wheels. OE 16'' and OE 17'' with nice chrome clad finish

Hmm....let's see

Canadian version - check
Factory Bluetooth - check
Factory Tire pressure sensors - check (forgot to mention required by law...lol)

Going on and on about how many parts he changed before the required interval and yet forgot to change the waterpump....PRICELESS!

BTW....coolant looks a little low in the last pic and his intercooler is filthy.

I hope he finds this thread with everybody bagging on his jeep. He sounds like the kind of guy who would take it really hard.

Nope, I just checked my Canadian manual and it definitely specifies 100,000miles or 160,000km for the TB. Also, last time I checked the Gates web site they recommend 60,000 miles only in the absence of a vehicle manufacturer specified interval.

It's fairly safe to assume that he is jeepers.ca. The address in the ad is the same as on the jeepers contact us page.

....but check out his prices :-)r $200 for the exact same timing belt that RockAuto sells for $79.21. Even with cross border shipping RockAuto will deliver it to my door for $105!

Apparently he is reading posts as the ad has been modified to double down on the 100 kilometer TB change interval and citing the Gates TB site. Chuckle, that site clearly states that the intervals are based on factory recommendations where available (of course for Jeep there are factory recommendations) not Gates recommendations and the intervals in the Gates document are based on "K" intervals not "Km" intervals. In contrast to most of the rest of the world, the US uses miles not kilometers hence 100K means 100,000 miles.

As to the asking price, judging by jeepers.ca prices for parts his price for the vehicle is right in line with his parts prices.

For that amount of money there are plenty of 2008 Grand Cherokee Diesels for sale.
