Body sway's in rear

Hello.i have an 05 crd.it has a Rough Country 3" lift..The problem is a rear end sway as i get on/off the throttle.. The rear lower control arms are less then 4 months old and the upper was done last week.Rear still sways really bad..

Did this just appear or did it start just after the lift?

It has started recently. The lift has been on for over 50,000 miles.It is something that seems to be getting worse..It was first noticed about the same time my lower control arms went out. But both the rear lowers and upper have been change.

By upper I assume you mean the wishbone looking thing above the differential? If so then I'd look are rear shocks and/or springs although it could be a tire issue. That's assuming by sway you mean a side to side motion not fore and aft.

Check all the bolts and make sure none are loose, it happens.
Techs who swear by their air ratchets and impact wrenches are
often the ones who do not get the bolts tightened up properly.

You are describing 'torque steer', and yes, it is the rubber bushings in the rear lower control arms that are hammered by a combination of torque and hard shifting as your transmission gets long in the tooth. As they get more and more slop, the axle is rotated by engine torque - so the jeep is pushed left or right depending upon whether or not the engine is pushing or pulling (decelerating). I forget which does which, but it get's really squirrelly..

I believe the cause is hard shifts - and that it will keep hammering the rubber in those control arms until you get the transmission repaired or rebuilt. Of course, once that's done you need to replace the control arms too - or at least the rubber parts, which can be individually replaced.

It sounds just like that but i dont know how it could be seeing i just changed the upper unit and both lower control arms.i did not just do the bushing,,I replaced the whole control arm."Both upper&lower".I did not have the dealer do it. I did the work myself..so i know everything is tight

there is a new tsb on this according to the dealer for the rear lower control arms... dont know what it entails yet but they said it takes a few hours

I agree it sounds like the rear suspension is steering you. I would recheck that bushs that you replaced. We have had a couple of cases locally where aftermarket bushes failed after less than a month. In particular, bushes supplied under the Crown brand. Raybestos seem to be much better, and OEM ones of course.
