I thought that the control arm rust recall was only for certain 2005's so far but:

Safety Recall L27
Rear Suspension Lower Control Arms
.. may corrode and could break without warning.

I have an '06 and just got the notice in the mail.

Recall notice is for 05 - 07. I had my 06 done a couple of weeks ago.

When I looked this up, I saw a reference saying that it was for the 'sand belt' states. Is that incorrect, or have they expanded the recall?

I live in Washington State, and have not seen a notice for my 2005....

My 06 CRD done last week along with ECU/APPS issues that turned out to be wiring harness issues, and apparently that problem had been exacerbated by previous owner or mechanic's poor attempt to fix.

My understanding is that it was originally for salt belt states and certain 2005's... now it seems it covers all 05-07's. I got notice after we traded the CRD in, and it was repaired by the dealer who we bought the Jeep back from. Looks like a slightly different design, no real area to start to rust on them. Time will tell...

Got my notice. Now I need to put a lock on my OBDII port because the local dealer is very very stupid and might flash my tune away instead replacing the rear lower control arms.

I just got this recall notice as well. I also just had a 4 wheel alignment done not too long ago. Will / can this control arm change knock it out of alignment again?

dealer had mine last week.

informed me about brakes needing service, quoted me ~275 for the front and ~250 for the rear.
decided to do them myself since parts are < 100 an axle even for ugraded pads including parking pads and rotors.

go to remove wheels, they were torqued on so bad, i broke a ratcheting breaker and a torque wrench. four lug nuts total were cross threaded.

scratch that dealer off my " list of dealers to do work i dn't want to do"

I laughed immediately when I read this especially since I'm having my timing belt done tomorrow at a dealership. Keith just warned me not to tell them about the tune, so I requested that they leave my ECU alone since I heard there were new tunes from Chrysler that would hurt my older model glow plugs.

I'm worried about my dealership experience tomorrow because there seems to be a former student of mine working there as an oil change tech. He was a complete pile of suck with no real brains. I'm holding my breath that the don't allow him near a diesel, but he may be the most qualified if you listen to this board.

Had mine done this morning, took less than one hour. I think you guys are worrying too much about your tunes. The dealer wants to waste as little time on your Jeep as they can. They will do as little as possible to save labour hours and have no concerns if you are tuned or not. Especially when most are out of warrantee by now anyways so they have no responsibility or care.

Make sure they tighten all bolts. There should be eight of them.
