The left rear window let loose and fell while parked in a rain storm which stained the rear seat The window is now taped up with blue masking tape until the Steiger repair kit arrives. Any tips that I can be given to make the repair go smoothly? |

I just did the same repair a few weeks ago. Pretty straight forward process. The only thing is the space to work in is quite cramped, meaning to get to the inside of the door can be somewhat challenging. The get the regulator assembly in and out of the panel can be a pain because only a certain angle will work. Below is a youtube video I used as a guide and was very helpful. Be mindful that in the video it's for a driver front side regulator but all the same principles apply. Took about an hour to do the repair, with help. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ogy4jogaTmo |

1st one takes a while to do, rest go much quicker if you do all 4 which I did. Only things I would add to the instructions 1) a drill with a wire wheel held steady (by someone or in a vise) and run at a modest speed removes the cable fuzz in mere seconds and 2) if you have the early model mount (ball on a stud) the instructions speak to bending the stud shift until it's horizontal. The latter instruction is ok but what's really important is to bend it so the clip fits equally on both sides of the back of the ball otherwise it will pop loose (been there done that). Once installed run the window full up to full down about 12 times to test function before putting things back together. PS the black water dam goo sticks to anything so be careful where you set your water dam and avoid touching the goo that remains on the door. If during removal of the water dam the goo wants to come off in a string just cut it with a sharp knife. |

Just cut a 1x2 1/4" too long then make a notch in the end and hold the window up with that untill the kit arrives, I think it is 23 3/4". |
