Post subject:  FUEL FILTER LEAK, REPLACED ASSEMBLY STILL SURGING A LITTLE

I followed instructions from Papaindigo and it worked perfectly  Got the Assembly changed out in no time primed the system and PRESTO she fired up with no problems > it seems to be working better but I am still getting a little power surging in lower rev's but other than that it seems fine. I am hoping that the fuel needs to work its way through completely and the surging will stop , unless there is something else anyone can tell me.
I also get a hard gear change (not a new issue) when the auto transmission goes from first to second , it does't seem to affect anything but if there is a a way to fix it , I would.Does anyone else have this problem? I heard somewhere that it could possibly be chip that is malfunctioning but I don't know.
Any help would be great

I have had hard gear change issues when i first got my CRD 4 years ago. Check the air cleaner. The cleaner the better. I swithed to a K&N and have a spare paper filter to put in durring cleaning of the K&N. Change or clean the filter every 5,000 miles max.

Already have the k&N and just cleaned it
Thanks for the tip!

Have you cleaned the MAP sensor? Any check engine light? (CEL) Running good fuel? Fuel addidive?

they are saying at the shop it is the turbo is gummed up and ned to be replaced, or they can try to clean it $4000 for a new one of clean it for $500 that may or may not work. any thoughts?

Did they provide you a list of fault codes stored on the ecm? After the fuel head change, how does vehicle perform? Can you feel the turbo making boost while driving? Do the CAC hoses pressurize a fair amount if you brake torque it? It it is making boost the turbo does not need to be replaced. Sometimes EGR problems can be mis diagnosed as a failed turbo. 4k is very high for a turbo replacement as well. Knowing the codes would be very helpful.

The codes were p0300 fuel leak, which was probably from the fuel filter I replaced and the other is P0455 turbo code? The guy at the shop is saying the actuator plunger is gummed up and they have cleaned it and they may have it fixed , but my issue is also that when I go to bleed the system at the fuel filter there is still air in the system , what could that be related to and is it the cause not the turbo actuator. Furthermore what would cause that to gum up anyway. Thanks for looking into this ! I appreciate the help

P0300 is a multiple cylinder misfire and could be caused by a fuel system with an air leak. P0455 is not listed as a valid fault code, so not sure what this is. There are potential air leak paths at the fuel line connections out of fuel tank.

If the fuel is not being burned completely due to misfire it could produce excess soot and hydrocarbon that can gum up the turbo vane mechanism. Sometimes running the CRD very hard for about 10 minutes will get the turbine hot enough to burn off residual soot, etc. to allow full vane travel. Hope this helps.

Post subject:  Turbo Problem

The shop says they got the actuator arm to move a little and it is getting 7psi pressure where it should be showing 16psi, I asked them to check the hoses but they say it is not the hoses , so I am picking it up today and will check them myself. I am also going to try getting the turbo hot enough to burn off the deposits , as I have read , maybe that will help, is there anything else I can do to diagnose/fix rather than getting a new turbo?
THanks for all your help!!
