Hi all,

Re-starting an old thread here. Short version is I'm doing a mod that will drive real-time monitoring of boost pressure. I looked on Sasquatch's site and the gauge pod is no longer offered. What have y'all done for mounting a boost gauge in your CRD? Any details you can provide will be greatly appreciated (vendor/size/mount/location/boost port location/etc/etc).

THANKS in advance!

Steve

Glow shift gauges sales gauge pillar mounts as shown in picture below.
Boost pressure gauge connection point in intake manifold in an unused bolt boss close to engine oil dipstick.
Requires drilling a small ~1/8" hole into intake manifold and rethreading the bolt hole to 1/8" NPT as shown below.

Thanks WW! Have appreciated your prompt replies in the past too. My need's related to the intake heater mod you and I have exchanged posts about previously (I'll update that post shortly, hopefully...). I've now got the heater element put into my Weeks intake tube, but want to keep an eye on it as regards any boost leakage. Can you or anybody else give some expected boost pressure reading ranges?

Steve

Depends on what tune you have installed.
On mine, with a Yeti Stage IV Hot Tune, I can see brief peaks of ~25-27psig on hard acceleration or while depressing the go pedal hard when climbing inclines.
Then it drops back very quickly to around 20-22psig and holds that pressure for the duration until the go pedal is let off.

Also, pulling a loaded trailer especially uphill will force the engine to work harder and in turn the ECM will request more from the turbo (boost).
Air filter condition and having a free flowing straight through exhaust system with NO CAT can also have an influence on turbo response due to lower backpressure on the turbo.
And of course, no leaks anywhere on the boost hoses, CAC (intercooler)!
The butterfly plate in the FCV if still installed can affect boost flow into the intake (they can stick partly closed) or having a leaking EGR valve which can allow boost leakage (loss) backwards through the valve and dumped into the exhaust manifold.
