I am going to get a price from my mechanic to install the upgraded torque converter on monday. Is there anything else required other than the torque converter itself? I have read about replacing the pump, is this always necessary, and if so, do I need the whole assembly or just to rebuild part of it?

There is another option to replacing the pump:

Some Mechanics will quote the price and do it, others want to buy a pump from their sources and sell it for big bucks, others will do the Sonix fix that is good, others will just slap in the converter and only cover the converter.
Doing the converter with out fixing or replacing the pump is like replacing a head gasket and not the thermostat. You might be lucky or not, it is your GAMBLE.
