I had a problem that had stumped me for over a year. My cruise when activated would intermittently cut out and have to be reset. Sometimes it would not reset for 20 minutes or so. I searched the forum here for answers, but none applied to my situation. However, the problem resolved itself when I had the timing belt changed. The mechanic found I had a bent alternator spindle and a bent viscous fan spindle during this process. These were replaced as well and, voila, the problem has disappeared. My cruise control has worked flawlessly for the last six months. I thought I should post this in case other members are having a similar issue, they might want to check these items. I have no idea why these might cause an issue, other than it might affect the quality of current the alternator was producing, but whatever the reason, these repairs resolved my problem.
