I have my eye on a used 2005 CRD, and it looks like everything I wanted is there except the tow package.

Is the tow package just the receiver and electrical, or is there more to it that would mean you need to order it when you buy the vehicle, like auxillary trans cooling or different brakes?

Or, can I just drive this used CRD to the dealer and have the tow package added?

What about 3rd party tow packages?

Thanks for any info.

If I recall correctly, teh CRD has the HD engine and tranny cooling stock, w/ or w/o the tow package.

The axle gear ratio is also the same.

You should just be able to add a hitch and a light coupler.

Yep, it's just the receiver and the elec. This motor is ready to haul right out of the gates. I have the receiver from the factory and it tucks up into the bumper nice and tight. I've seen some of the aftermarket ones and they looked like they hung down a little more. They didn't look quite as good, I didn't think. But they didn't look bad enough to pay a whole lot extra to get the Mopar one. I haven't shopped them though, so I have no idea how much they run. Good luck!
