Traded the CRD Liberty in today on a Lotus Elise. Its been fun but time for another type of fun. I will be throwing some stuff on ebay soon: - GDE programmer tool widget - transgo kit - transmission filters - spare glowplugs - ? Cheers, thanks for the great discussions and help. |

fastring, You should sell the programmer tool with the CRD as it is locked to your VIN and will not tune another CRD. Someone else could use it to read/clear codes, but that is all. |

I realize the tune files wouldnt work with another vehicle (I wouldnt provide the files even if they would, I am very pro-software intellectual property protection if you knew my background:) but I figure the $200 widget to allow folks to read codes but also easily swap tunes they buy from GDE would benefit someone. If I had sold the car to an individual, I would have provided everything, but trading it in to a Kia Dealer for my used Lotus, I didnt bother as it wouldnt make it to the new owner. |

I don't need any more Actron type readers, I need good stuff that can probe deeper. Anybody got a DRB3 they want to sell cheap? |

The standard Powergate software that Alientech provides allows the device to be erased to factory settings. Did you have the software specially modified to lock it to the first VIN it gets a tune file for? |

So if I get a second CRD for the girl, I need a second programmer? I was hoping that I can just buy a tune when the time comes. Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk 2 |

The flash tool Alientech sells us only tunes one vehicle. The tool can be erased and used on another vehicle if the current tuned vehicle is flashed back to stock. The "original" file must be in the tuned vehicle in order to use the software and erase the tool. You could also ship the flash tool to me and I can erase it. I do this by changing the VIN on our CRD to match yours, flash the stock tune in it and then use the software to erase the tool. It is somewhat time consuming, but that is how I manage the rental option for the Liberty CRD. As a side note, the Liberty is the only vehicle we tune that has the rental option since we have this application in our fleet. |

Will a swapped ecm work on a different crd ? Havent tried it yet but thought it would. Nope. The ECM is coded to the vehicle's Body module and the anti-theft system will not allow it to do anything other than start and shut off within 2 seconds because the key coding will not match. |

This is true, but if you acquire a spare ECU, Keith can reprogram it for you when he puts the tune on it or he may be willing to do it for a stock tune for a fee. That is what I did when I got the tune prior to the programmer being available when I could not afford to have my vehicle down while the ECU was shipped out. |
