Is the heavy duty nylon radiator fan only available from the dealership? Thanks, Tony

Any of the online Mopar parts businesses should be able to get you one, and that's where I got mine. I take it your talking about the V6 towing package 11 blade nylon fan that is compatible with the CRD fan clutch mount.

In the case that you're lacking the part number for the 11 blade nylon fan; 52079654AE

The Hayden heavy duty viscous clutch is 2905. You will also need a 36mm wrench to remove the clutch. The best price/buy I found as on Amazon; KD Tools 3136-76 Ford Fan Clutch Wrench 36mm, Long handle

Dennis - AWESOME name.

Napa also has the wrench, should be about $22.

FYI: Looking for the fan at junkyards is next to pointless, I have discovered that Mopar ONLY equipped the factory-tow-package gassers with that fan, so the dealer route is your best option. If you have a good relationship with your local parts guys, then there is a good chance you can equal or maybe beat the online price when shipping is factored in.

I guess I'm late to this topic: What's the advantage to having this fan versus the stock one?

With the Hayden Severe Duty fan clutch and the 11 blade fan together, it moves more air so you don't over heat, have lower EGTs under heavy loading/hot conditions due to more air moving through the inter cooler, lower trans temps, and cooler AC when it is hot.
Arguments for the stock fan and fan clutch have proven to be Worn out Detroit Bean Counter Engineering Rhetoric.

No, but always multiply your repair time estimates by a factor of four. That protects your reputation as a miracle worker.

Now I get it! Thanks, Warp! My clutch is questionable and the fan may just find it's way onto a shelf in the garage.
