Post subject:  Excessive Oil Use
Today when checking my oil I noticed it was down to the add mark. I had just topped it off about 2 weeks ago. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem may be? I checked around and under the engine and cannot find any leaks. Also no oil spots on the garage floor. I have also not noticed any excessive exhaust other than normal with the engine when I blow it oil about bi-weekly.
I have 137,000 miles on it and have taken care of all maintenance. I had the ERG valve replaced last year. I have no check engine lights.

Any thoughts would help before I take it to the dealer.

the add mark on mine is actually the full mark, if i were to fill to the full mark, my crd would eat oil quickly to the add oil mark...., if i fill with 6.5 qts when doing a oil change t is at the add mark.

I was wondering about that. I ended up always adding more oil when I changed mine, 6.5 qts would never bring it up to the full mark. I think I read something years ago that the dipsticks were not the right length, I forgot all about it until now. Hopefully that is the problem I am having. The only other thing I could think of was a problem with the turbo, but everything seems to be running just fine.

If you add more than 6.5 quarts - it blows into the intake manifold (or out the Elephant hose)
