I picked up my '06 yesterday and just finished reading the NOOBGUIDE. (Very well written by the way!)

Anyway I have owned VW TDI's, Cummins 12 valve, and a Duramax for years. I am just a diesel nut in general. Raised around 2 cycle Detroits from the age of three I took a liking to diesel power.

Ever since the Liberty CRD was introduced I have wanted one. However I live in California and was not able to buy one new. So I have been looking for a couple of years now and finally found one that made me sign the papers! It's a 2006 Limited with 52k miles on it. Now the learning begins!

I don't really have any questions for the board yet but if there is anything the NOOB guide did not cover that you feel I should know please let me know!

Welcome and congrats!
You're much more likely to be a happy CRD owner since you found this fourm! I it wasn't for LOST I would have ditched or burned my little diesel many years ago!

Thank you for the welcome! I took the "oil burning KJ" to my trusted mechanic Bob Goodman at McPeek's Dodge today to have him install the updated fuel filter and wiring harness assembly. He let me into the bay so I can have a clear view underneath. He noticed my recall L-27 was still outstanding and that indeed my rear control arms were a bit rusted. So he went ahead and replaced those too.

However I noticed the steel pieces that connect the front struts to the lower A arm are extremely rusty and am thinking they should be replaced ASAP! Any input on this? Any failures?

The clevis(es) were well rusted on mine when I got it, also. Once at a Chrysler/Jeep dealer I took a peek at the underside of a showroom Jeep product. Those clevises were covered with rust just like mine. Wonder if it's a factory spec?

Welcome to Lost
